The hot and humid summer weather- what I call the jungle weather- is here. Life speeds up as I try to keep up with the garden produce and weeds. Short breaks on my front porch swinging or rocking with a cold glass of ice tea keeps me going throughout the day. The porch is also where I sit to shell the peas and break the green beans after picking them in the morning.
butterflies hovering over flowers and floating on the breeze..,
the scent of roses and other blooms perfuming the air in the heat of the day..,
chickens scratching in the dirt and hunting for bugs..,
ducks splashing in the water, and..,
ten month old Tex, who guards everything. Texie boy has quite the palate. Not only does he gobble down his doggy food, but he loves strawberries & blackberries so it is always a race to get the ripened berries before Tex does. Next thing he will be eating my green beans and tomatoes out of the garden. Needless to day this wiggly bundle of fur that oozes energy out of his doggy pores keeps me on my toes.
One week this summer we had four teenagers and two adult guys from the GAP project. They painted our porches, rails, and cleaned out the gutters leaving our place looking brand new. What a blessing this team was to the Walker farm!
